LAST ITEM HELD MATCHING THIS TITLE STATED:

London, D'Almaine & Co. c late 1850's. With a superb colour lithograph cover by H.C. Maguire showing a frame of French Imperial motifs and inside are members of the French Imperial guard dancing the waltz with their female partners, two in the background and one couple in front of tents that are set up close to a town. Camille Schubert was the nom de plume of the French composer/publisher Camille Prillip (born 1810) Prillip also known as Phillip operated in Paris until 1876. The artist family of Maguire were very interesting. The elder Maguire(H.C.) died in 1860 and thus mainly worked in monochrome lithography for the work of Madame Vestris and the more serous music. His son with the same first names worked from the beginnings of Music Hall and illustrated a very large number of Arthur Lloyd's hit songs, the Great Vance,Nellie Power and Harry Rickards. Some say in output he almost matched Concannen's for a while in the 1860's & 70's. There was a brother T.H. and a son H.T. all music illustrators. I believe this to be Maguire the elder and thus a rare example of his work in colour. Printed by Stannard & Co.Folio size with music. Condition VG.
