Illustrated boards in a blue and pink design with pink and blue titles to the front panel and backstrip. Dark blue coloured tint to the top text block edge. Bumping and discoloration to the backstrip edges and to the book corners. Rubbing to the book edges and some discoloration to the top book edge. Light browning, offset tanning and faint foxing to the endpapers. The internal text is aged toned. Previous owner's name to the top edge of the half title page. Illustrated dustwrapper, by George Salter, with white and black titles to the front panel and white titles to the backstrip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear dustwrapper panel. Rubbing and slight chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the top backstrip edge. Rubbing and some chipping to the other dustwrapper edges and there is a 0.25 " tear to the lower edge of the front dustwrapper panel and a similar sized tear to the top left-hand corner of the same panel. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, top right hand corner. The dustwrapper has become somewhat darkened by sun, particularly the backstrip. A novel set in India, and what happens when a rich man, wishing to to found a temple, comes upon an island in the Ganges and sets about to construct his temple.
