Illustrated endpapers, being a design of a pair of gloves, hat and a sword, in purple and white, repeated. Coloured illustrated frontispiece, by Michael Godfrey, who also drew the three colour and 21 black-and-white illustrations within the text. Illustrated boards, the same design as for endpapers, only background colour is beige. On the front panel there is an insert box with red writing embossed and red titles for the backstrip. Minor bumping to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and to the lower book corners. Shelf wear to the lower book edges. Light browning and marks to the text block edges. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Illustrated dustwrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with blue background and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. On the back dustwrapper panel is a list of the titles in the "Dent's Children's Illustrated Classics" series. Rubbing and light chipping to the dustwrapper corners. Rubbing, creasing and three small tears to the top backstrip edge and rubbing and creasing to the lower backstrip edge. Fading, spotting and some stains to the dustwrapper panels. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. Browning and some foxing to the verso of the dustwrapper and a previous owner has supported the tears to the top backstrip edge with tape, tape still in situ. The sequel to " The Prisoner of Zenda ". A return to Ruitania and its wonderful characters. Part of the Illustrated Children's Classics series, this being number 57. Digital image available upon request to help assess condition..
