J. M. dent, London. 1967. Set in Indonesia, 'Victory' returned to the subject-matter of Conrad's first books and was the kind of tropical-island adventure story that Conrad knew Hollywood filmmakers would admire (it has been filmed three times, the first in 1919). First published in serial form in the London Star, the novel unfolds in four parts and is probably set in the 1890s. Its narrator, as is common in Conrad, is an anonymous character who speaks in the first person at times, especially at the beginning of the novel, but for most of the book relates the story as though he were an omniscient narrator. No dust jacket. Facsimile 'Joseph Conrad' Signature to fep. Some tape marks to blue cloth covered end boards. Bears a stanmp of 'Sandringham Beaumaris' 412pp 185 x 120mm
