London: Rider and Co., 1933. 256pp., last 2 blank, foreword by author, introduction by G. Vale Owen, list of illustrations, appendix. Gilt coloured endpapers. Black-and-white photographic portrait frontispiece. Gilt to top paper edge. The text is illustrated with 16 black-and-white photographs or illustrations. Dark blue velveteen with gilt decoration and illustration of a bird and fish on the front panel, overlay, and gilt writing on the spine. Bumping and fraying to the head and to the heel of the spine and to the book corners. The front panel is slightly bowed and there are marks to the book panels. Browning and discoloration is particularly noticeable to the top rear book edge. The spine is slightly dusty and there has being a total discoloration of the spine commensurate with a hole in the dustwrapper. Browning and foxing to the paper edge shares and foxing has occurred throughout the internal pages. Original bookseller's sticker on the front paste down, lower right-hand corner. The front and back hinges have very slightly started to split. Plain text dustwrapper, with gilt background with blue writing on the front panel and spine. The dustwrapper is in atrocious condition! There is heavy chipping, with loss to both the top and bottom dustwrapper edges and all corners are in a likewise condition. There are pieces missing from the top right-hand corner and the lower lefthand corner of the spine and there are two pieces missing from the top back edge, one measuring 2" x 0.25" and the other 1.5 " x 1 ". Creasing and loss of gilt has occurred to both the front and back fold over edges and to the edges of the spine. There is a hole threequarters of the way down the spine. There is a crease the runs the full-length of the front fold over.
