Melbourne: Georgian House, 1952. II, blank, X, last three blank, list of illustrations, introduction. Within the text there are a folding map, 5 black and white plates. Black and white illustrated frontispiece, showing Joseph Hawdon. Dark maroon boards with gilt writing on spine. Minor rubbing to the corners and there are dust marks to the top paper edge along with faint foxing, and the other edges are brown. Previous owners name on ffep., along with a brown stain running the full length of the page which is also present on rear endpaper. Internal pages are also slightly browned. Plain text dustwrapper, with maroon coloured decorations on grey background with black writing on front panel and spine. Dustwrapper corners slightly rubbed and there is some creasing to the top dustwrapper edge. Dustwrapper is slightly faded. First publication of the journal of Joseph Hawdon, who undertook the first Overland cattle trek from New South Wales to South Australia, "...undertaken in the height of summer, over unknown country, and the with the loss of only 4 cattle.".. First Edition. Maroon Cloth. Reasonable/Fair. 8vo - up to 9 ¾" tall - Octavo. Australiana.
