Black boards with gilt writing on spine. The corners of the book are rubbed and their shelf wear evident to the bottom edges of book. The front and back panels have mildew residue. The paper edges are browned. Photographic dustwrapper, showing a Japanese mask, with black background and white and blue writing on front panel white on spine. The dustwrapper is rubbed and faded and the corners are chipped. There has been a small piece missing on the front fore edge of the front cover and there is chipping to the head and heel of spine. There are three tears, one on the bottom front cover measuring 1", another on the top edge of the back panel measuring 1.5" x 1.5" and the last on bottom edge close to the spine of back panel measuring 1". This is Hal Porters' memoirs of trip to Japan in 1968, not of cherry blossoms and of tea ceremony but more of spreading concrete, plastic surgery for all and regimented followers of new religions..
